At the height of Covid-19 in 2021 I was given the gift of opportunity: I lost my job.

For most, being told you were losing your job due to budget reasons would be soul-crushing, but for myself, it was the chance to shed the weight of everything that was holding me back.

Don’t get me wrong, I was terrified.
Where do I go from here? How do I make ends meet? Do I stay in this career field?

I had just recently ended my wedding business and had no intentions of walking back into that part of my career. I also dried up all of the private contacts I had established before I went into the corporate video production route. To make matters worse, it was the dead of winter in February of 2021 in the middle of a record-breaking snowstorm in small-town Louisiana.

Instead of feeling hopeless, I did what anyone else would do: I went to LinkedIn.

Fast forward a few days and a couple of restless nights, I nailed my second interview with Kennesaw State University. I would officially start as the Director of Photography and Videography in March for a college of over 40,000+ students as part of the Strategic Communications and Marketing team. I would be the manager of team of 7 full time employees and 3 student workers. A new team, a new employer, a new title, and a new city.

What could have been a hopeless situation was turned into an opportunity for the next step in my career.

“We took a chance on you…”

Find Your Wings

Kennesaw State University’s biggest campaign presence targeted at undergraduates throughout the year is “Find Your Wings.” This was the third iteration of this campaign, and years prior, a 3rd party production team provided all of the video production. Not this year. This was one of the biggest projects I have worked on in my career and one of the most successful.

Shoot days worked like clockwork: 6 production days (between two weeks) to shoot 3 commercials in a fast-paced, hype video style. I directed a team of 3 videographers, 3 photographers, 1 production coordinator, 1 motion graphics artist, and 1 student assistant.

College Colors Day

College Colors Day is all about school spirit. Written in conjunction with Michael Creasy, this project went beyond the typical work experience. For part of this production, I had to be the mascot!

Summer Commencement 2021

Edited by a super talented videographer/editor (Jaret Roose) this project was one of my favorite. Stepping into the camera (literally, with an easyrig), Jaret and myself filmed 3 commencement ceremonies on the Kennsaw State Football field - a first for this University.

EMBA Testimonials

EMBA is a masterclass in editing. We took 6 interviewees and had to cut together their raw responses to form a cohesive ad campaign to promote the EMBA program.
