Lumen gave me the opportunity to put down roots. With those roots came the wisdom that corporate media is a blend of politics, budget, and creativity.
Growing up, Centurylink (now Lumen) was the place to work. It was the pinnacle of pay in my small town of Monroe, and it was the jewel of a very small crown in Northeast, Louisiana. If you could land a position at CTL, you would be set for a very long career. Unfortunately, Covid, and some bad business operation decisions, changed that for a lot of people including myself.
After being denied a first position out of college, I landed my position as “Producer II” with Centurylink in the spring of 2019 after focusing on increasing my portfolio and bettering my interpersonal communication skills.
What I didn’t understand at the time was that this would be my first real foray into understanding corporate politics and how much that played into corporate B2B messaging and creative development.
